Helek supports water quality monitoring and reporting efforts related to Phase I and Phase II NPDES permit compliance. He assists with creek bioassessments and assessing pollutant loads by conducting water quality monitoring and visual trash assessments. Helek has a background in conservation biology and NEPA compliance as well as previous stormwater experience with analyzing TMDL data and conducting structural BMP assessments for the City of Salinas’ Phase I NPDES permit. Helek has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz.
